This buck is the smallest of his kindle and was developing slower. However, the grandsire on the sire side is Astro Man, who teeters on senior maximum weight—actually he goes over the weight limit a few ounces, but I restrict his feed a bit before a show. That being said, I cannot guarantee any young rabbit will reach senior weight, however, I think that this one has potential in his genetics.
Both of his parents are Grand Champions. Yanish, the sire, is out of GC Carrot Garden's Astro Man (16 legs) and GC Funck's Zinfandel (17 legs). Inola, the dam, is out of GC Miss Maggie's Leon (4 legs) and her dam is the granddaughter of my first Silver Fox doe, Misty Blue.
As of 3/10/2021, this is my assessment: His fur is not finished and could be thicker but it has a nice length. Silvering is a bit on the light side but seems to be even so far. He has good depth, but a bit low and long in the shoulder, which is not a trait that either parent has and he has improved as he developed in the last two weeks. Nicely muscled in the loin for a junior.
I was not going to show him at the Dalton Show, but just take him for selling because two weeks ago, he did not look as good as his brother. I ended up selling his brother so I made a change to add him for the Meat Lovers and GSFRC Specialty on Sunday. He was fourth of eleven junior bucks for the Specialty, but the judge made a point to say that he was a keeper but he was just less developed than the top junior bucks that day.
