Summing Up the Latest Shows

I just received my show reports for Shows B and C from the Northwest Georgia Cavy and Rabbit Club, so I now have all five show reports in front of me to analyze from the Dalton shows held on March 6-7, 2021. If you read the previous post I did know the outcome for some of my rabbits in the NSFRC National and the GSFRB Specialty Shows, but Shows B and C ran at the same time and I was talking with buyers, so I did not write down my placements at all for any of the shows and I just gave up for the rest.   Now I have the chance to fill in all the blanks—Well, actually, the entire  page of my show journal as it was all blank except for rabbit names! In the order of class and ages... Senior Bucks GC Carrot Garden's Astro Man - He has been my biggest and most consistent prizewinner until his son Yanish hit the show scene and now that they are both in the senior class, it seems Yanish is a contender for the Tale of Tails Top Buck Throne, although not every judge there saw it tha...

2021 NSFRC National and GSFRB Specialty Shows

I have started this post a few times in my mind and just could not get to writing it, partly because I am still in shock. However, I very much desired to share with you all how my Lord has done this for me and with me because, if not for God, this would not have happened. When I started this journey going from a meat breeder of seven years into a show breeder, I knew the quality of Silver Foxes I was starting with were not ideal rabbits. Then one of the rabbits I had bought won Best of Breed in my very first show! I was so encouraged that I bought another buck that was transported from out of state along with his brother bought by a friend who assured me these would be good bucks for us both. Then I bought a doe from a well-known breeder to be transported to me from the ARBA Convention, which turned into a very disheartening public ordeal after the doe won Best of Breed and Best of Best there—I nearly quit on the idea of showing altogether, all this in only a few months time. As rocky ...

2021 Dalton Show Offers

All the rabbits that I will have available at the Dalton, Georgia show next weekend are from the same kindle. All of the blacks may carry dilute and/or white. The blue may carry white. They range in quality and size, although all are born on the same day. I have listed them here from the worse to the best at this time. The worst I recommend for meat brood only. The last two on this list are the best, one buck and one doe, and I may wish to keep to see them grow out a bit more to decide if they will stay with me in my breeding program. That is to say, I will not decide for sure if they are available or not until the Dalton show as a week's worth of development at this age can change quite a bit.  The first three on this list are definitely being offered and will be priced according to their quality, which you can discuss with me privately by Messenger.  TYIN7 - Doe - Blue Brood  - sold TYIN1 - Buck - Black Brood  - sold / actually turned out to have show potential!...

Yanish Makes a Stunning Debut in Two October Shows!

Tale of Tails Yanish is a friendly and somewhat heavier-silvered junior buck, who surprised me by reaching eight pounds before he turned five months old. His sire is also on the large side and my buck with the most legs, GC Carrot Garden's Astro Man, and his dam is my doe with the most legs, GC Funck's Zinfandel.  West Georgia Rabbit Club Triple Show in Carrollton, Georgia, on October 3, 2020 Yanish was taken to his very first show a week ago Saturday as I am writing this post, where he was picked for first place in junior bucks in the first show. I was very excited about that as we had ten junior bucks with more than enough exhibitors for him to earn his first leg. Then I was surprised by the judge picking him for Best of Breed! Not just his first leg, but also his first title win. With such a great start out of the gate, I was a bit disappointed that the other two judges in the following shows were less impressed with him, although he still did well with third of nine in Sho...

Grace By Another Name

Any one who knows me knows that I have a thing about names. For the most part, I believe they should be meaningful. My grandfather, a pony man, used to tell us to be careful what you name a pony or a horse because that is often what they become...and he had quite a number of them that he raised and actually proved that point. So, I have always just had a thing for knowing the meaning behind a name. With my pets and rabbits, I try to go for the unique and often foreign names also. Yesterday I decided to keep a junior doe from Starry Knight and Zinfandel, who was the smallest of the kindle. She is still on the small side for her age, but I love her depth, shoulders, and fur. I just have a feeling about her, that she may improve with age.  Since the COVID-19 pandemic is increasing in numbers throughout the world and particularly in the United States presently, I was searching for a name that had a special meaning to me and one that honored my Lord; the word "grace" kept...

Some Furry Things in the Nests

While I have two kindles just a day apart right now, I am so excited about my newest kindle born Thurdsay, because this is my first one I have had with both parents of my own breeding. Tale of Tails Kieran (4 legs) and Ravyn (1 leg) produced six blacks and one blue, although the blue was DOA. At least now I know that Kieran also carries blue. Kieran is on the heavy side of silvering with longer fur and has amazing depth. Ravyn is very lightly silvered and lacks in quality of her fur and depth but has a well positioned peak and when coupled with the right buck, she throws some nice kits. Ravyn's first breeding was with High Rock's Starry Knight and they produced two very nice does: Porsche and Mercedes. Porsche as a junior won her first leg with 1st of 11 and then BOS in March at Dalton in Show C. Mercedes won 2 legs with 1st of 11 in Show B and 1/7 in the Meat Lovers Show. I am having a difficult time deciding which one I will be keeping. Both have good depth that neit...
